Pipe Bending and Pedal Mounts

The original frame was built using steel pipes so we chose to continue that look for aesthetics.  Using a JD Square pipe bender and varying lengths and diameter pipes we were able to create a custom look.

The majority of the frame itself was done with 1.5 inch diameter and 2 inch diameter pipe. We added pieces that were 1 inch, 1.5 inch and 1 5/8 inch depending on the purpose and location of the pipe.

First we start with a long piece of straight pipe.

Then bend at appropriate place.

The result of the bending.

We bent small pieces of pipe for the seat mounting locations over the transmission.

As well as using them for the place to mount the fenders on.

You can see how the aesthetic of the new pieces that have been coated with primer work with the old original framework.

We also used it for the foundation for mounting the pedals.

Plates were welded to the bent pipe.

The pedals were mounted to the plates insert.

Without the pipe bender we would have had to change the whole look of the trike. It has been invaluable to us in our project.
